Human eyes. Intended for many reasons responsible for mainly a single unique reason. It sees the mistakes done by others and tries to help human mind in criticizing those mistakes. Though those mistakes was even our past, too. It never matters. Isn’t it???
Human wrath. Creditworthy for chasing the situation into deep negative mood. We humans are not trained and most of the time never try to take a bit control over our anger. Wrath damages the relationship by creating invisible classified holes over the thread of love, surely!
I haven’t spent centuries in this field where relationship between student and professor is always hot topic for discussion. Yet, I can count my self to eligible for sailing over this complex and sensitive matter. A significant body of research indicates that academic achievement and student behavior are influenced by the quality of the teacher and student relationship. The more the teacher connects or communicates with his or her students, the more likely they will be able to help students learn at a high level and accomplish quickly. Specially in the colleges where student is the youth that is always ready to mold in different different shapes, here relationship matters the most.
Today youth is having very less inertia states. They always want to focus on more and more fields at the same time. They always wanted to be an all-rounder for only one reason : To live on their condition only. They consider their anger as an responsive fact and others’ anger as their unnecessary ignorance. That’s not their fault at all.
Children who are yelled at feel rejected and frightened because a teacher shouts at them. The example above demonstrates the feelings the child has towards the teacher leading to inhibiting the child from learning. The reasons for children to be yelled at vary from teacher to teacher, but shouting should not be the solution for children who find education a difficult process or simply lack of learning experiences, but sometimes teachers find yelling at the child as the only quick solution. This creates the more height in deep to separate both of them from a closed bondage. Learning stops here. This shouldn’t happen ever in the class. As wrath is never a part of solution.
Therefore, those professors who demonstrate respect towards their students, automatically win favor by having active learners in their classroom. The arrogant or offensive teacher will lack these positive qualities due to his or her lack of control over the class. Professors should assert that they should also be treated with respect and their responsibilities to ensure that students treat each other with kindness.
Here i am not discarding punishment form the teaching attempts, but punishment should not be the reason of destroying anyone. As professors, teachers we are not having any rights to humiliate anyone anywhere. This only shows a professors hidden fears about his own ignorance, unholy knowledge and improper practice. To win over your ego, importance, respect you can’t drag them in panic. Try to win them by your true behaviour, respect and love towards them and most importantly with your knowledge. We are not Paid to humiliate students. Teachers who call out their students in front of the entire class are pretty mean because they seem to find some sense of joy in humiliating other people. No one likes being called out in general, so to call out students in front of their friends because maybe they failed a test or they made proxy or they behaved improperly whatsoever the reason. It is incomprehensible as to why teachers feel the need to embarrass their students. All it does is make the students hate their teachers more and more as the semester progresses. A professor has to find a innocent way to control his class and lead them to the peak of Everest.
In this new edge world we have to earn respect from students. One of the best ways to earn a student’s respect in the classroom is by being the kind of person your students want to become. Character is something money can’t buy, but everyone admires and respects even if they don’t like you personally. Know your own ignorance, respect them and practice more by acquiring proper firm knowledge to win over it. Just be true kind to them.
Now, here I want to end my emotional string with few lines from “Philosophy and fun of algebra” by Mary Everest Boole.
“It is the business of your teachers at school to see that you
acquire skill in using certain implements or tools; it is not their business nor mine to decide what use you shall make, when you are grown up, of the skill which you have acquired. It is their business to see that you learn to read and to speak properly; it is not their business to decide beforehand whether you shall recite in public or only read to your own family and your sick friends. It is their business to see that you know how to sew; but not to settle whether you shall, in future, make your own clothes or work for the poor. So it is with the tools of the mind, such as algebra and logic. It is our business to see that you know how to use algebraic and logical method accurately and skilfully; it is not our business to decide whether, in the future, you shall use your skill to deceive other people or to show them the truth. It is our business to see that you do not deceive yourself, because deceiving yourself distorts your brain and ruins the possibility of using logical methods skilfully to arrive at the knowledge of truths.”
